The Theory of Evolution is the belief that random genetic errors result in the positive creation of new beneficial features in life forms. Just like many other beliefs, the Theory of Evolution does have some valid points which show a grain of truth behind it. This is what makes the theory so believable. There is plenty of evidence that many species which existed in the past are extinct, and that many species which exist now are new and did not exist in the past. These species form due to data being lost from the genetic code of various animals and is a, usually gradual, change from one generation to the next. Given your definition of the word “evolution”, you could say that these species have evolved, and in fact are still evolving. This is not what I am trying to debunk here, as this is an actual fact that this happens. A better term for this process, to separate this concept from the other thing is Speciation. This is the process by which new species arise through the process of natural selection, and this is a scientific fact. This is often called “microevolution”.
The form of Evolution I am here to debunk is the lie of “molecule-to-man” evolution, part of “cosmic” and “macroevolution”. This is more of a religion than an actual scientific theory. It has many aspects that almost any religion has. There is a creation myth, supposed miracles, various dogmas, and traditions, as well as an end-of-times prophecy. Those who believe this theory, much like any other religious person, believe that they are right and that anyone who believes anything else is an idiot for not agreeing with their claims, regardless of what the evidence shows.
The creation myth of this view is that all forces and matter came from a central point of infinite density and infinite temperature, which expanded and cooled. Over time, an imperfection in the spread of the matter lead to molecules of hydrogen pooling together until their gravitational pull crushed them into a fusion reaction, forming a star. This reaction over time created other elements. As these stars died, they exploded spreading other elements out into the universe to collect around other newer stars forming planets. Over time, the inorganic chemicals on the planet form organic compound through random processes. Over time these organic compounds grow in complexity making new data within themselves. This process continues to the point where these chemical reactions become single-celled organisms, then become more advanced organisms, then become animals, then become human beings.
Those who believe in this theory also believe that the universe will eventually end in one way or another. Many believe that the universe will expand to the point where everything freezes, or that it will elastically snap back and start a new Universe is created after, or that gravity will smash all mater together eventually, or that all atoms will eventually rip apart as the universe expands faster and faster. The Bible does say that the old heavens (space) and Earth will be wiped away, and a new will be created, but differently.
While many people consider those who do not have blind faith in this belief to be “ignorant of science”, there are many flaws in the theory. The truth is that if you cannot test and verify something in a lab recreating the conditions you claim existed, it is not science. We cannot recreate the conditions before the universe existed, and honestly do not know what the conditions were in the first few moments of creation. Nonliving minerals do not become living organisms on their own, other than as described in the book of Genesis. Many websites the Miller-Urey experiment as a so-called “proof” of a workable version of abiogenesis, however, it did not use realistic conditions, nor did it produce life. In fact, it did not even produce the building blocks of life but the following: mostly tar, a little carbolic acid, a tiny amount of glycine and alanine, and a negligible amount of trace elements. While various kinds of organisms do change on occasion, they do not become anything more than what they are. Bacteria become new kinds of bacteria, dogs become new kinds of dogs. A man named Francois Jacob, who won a Nobel Prize for his work in the field of evolution even said, “The probability that a functional protein would appear de novo by random association of amino acids is practically zero.” he later confirmed, “Evolution does not produce novelties from scratch. It works on what already exists, either transforming a system to give it new functions or combining several systems to produce a more elaborate one.”
The so-called “Cambrian Explosion” is great evidence that many kinds of life came into being in a very short period of time, and not as a gradual process. Furthermore, racism was in the past used to promote the theory of evolution in that various people were supposedly more or less evolved, therefore closer to our predecessor, than others. This was scientifically (human genome project) and biblically (Tower of Babble, as well as the rest of the Bible) disproven, showing that we are all one race created by God. The Bible also shows that we were created special and that various kinds (close to the family level of classification, not species level) of plants and animals were created by God.
One icon evolutionists have adopted to refute other beliefs is the dinosaur. They claim that the dinosaurs existed a ridiculously long time ago, and then go as far as to say that the dinosaurs were wiped out, killed before human beings even existed. This has been disproven through observational science and is shown to be wrong through scripture as well. Granted, there are not many examples of human beings fossilized, but there is a reason for this. The process of fossilization is actually very rare, and most dead things are not fossilized at all. This process only takes place when a dead organism is buried extremely rapidly as in the case of a worldwide flood, or even via local flooding or landslides. Otherwise, the organism would be mostly devoured by: insects, worms, birds, and other animals; then the rest is broken down by fungi, bacteria, and enzymatic degradation. In addition to all of these things, even oxygen must be removed to prevent breaking down before fossilization can take place. In fact, seventy-five percent of all dinosaur species currently known have provided five or fewer known specimens for study in the entire world. Furthermore, half of all dinosaur species known have provided a single known specimen each. Human fossils are incredibly rare. So when you take the rarity of dinosaur fossils and compound it by the rarity of human fossils, finding the two together is incredibly difficult. In addition, at the time of the global flood, we do not what the human population was even spread out into the prehistoric or pre-flood world, as most written records of the time period are lost or destroyed. There are however a few known examples. One which was discovered in the seventies, of a group of human beings found in the same strata as a dinosaur skeleton. The bodies, human and dinosaur alike were found in positions indicating that they were washed away to that point in a flood. Then there is the example of a hammer which was discovered which was determined to be from around the same time the dinosaurs existed, however, this was done with carbon dating which is incredibly unreliable and gave the number of nearly one hundred and forty million years. The fact still remains that this was found with dinosaurs. Then there are countless human feet and handprints found alongside dinosaur tracks.
Even as these pieces of evidence of human beings and dinosaurs are found from time to time, evolutionists will do whatever they have to in order to explain it away, saying the layer was contaminated or bones were buried there at a later date, etc. This is only evidence that Evolutionism is a religion and not true science. I would hope that the evidence would have convinced you by now that the so-called Theory of Evolution is not science but a religion, however, you may research it more fully on your own to learn more if needed. The point of this is not to refute Evolutionism or the reliability of Carbon Dating through science, although that is possible, to do so using scripture. There are many points in Biblical scripture which Evolutionism does not agree with. Some of these are the appearance of death, even that of animals, in the world after actions taken by human beings and the timeline or events and age of the planet.
Genesis 1:28-31 “God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply! Fill the earth and subdue it! Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that moves on the ground.’ Then God said, ‘I now give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the entire earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the animals of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to all the creatures that move on the ground – everything that has the breath of life in it – I give every green plant for food.’ It was so. God saw all that he had made – and it was very good! There was evening, and there was morning, the sixth day.”
While many people will try to twist (or interpret) the Bible to fit their own opinions, the actual text in its full context shows a human being existing before the first time it had rained on Earth, within the first week of the Earths existence. The text goes on to show that death enters the world after a man disobeyed God. An unevolved organism could have never died and had others go on through a process of natural selection before a fully developed human being made a conscious choice according to this text. This is shown in the book of Genesis.
Genesis 2:4-9 “This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created – when the Lord God made the earth and heavens. Now no shrub of the field had yet grown on the earth, and no plant of the field had yet sprouted, for the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to cultivate the ground. Springs would well up from the earth and water the whole surface of the ground. The Lord God formed the man from the soil of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. The Lord God planted an orchard in the east, in Eden; and there he placed the man he had formed. The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow from the soil, every tree that was pleasing to look at and good for food. (Now the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil were in the middle of the orchard.)”
Genesis 2:15-17 “The Lord God took the man and placed him in the orchard in Eden to care for it and to maintain it. Then the Lord God commanded the man, ‘You may freely eat fruit from every tree of the orchard, but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will surely die.’”
Genesis 3:17-19 “But to Adam he said, “Because you obeyed your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’ cursed is the ground thanks to you; in painful toil, you will eat of it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, but you will eat the grain of the field. By the sweat of your brow you will eat food until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you will return.“The book of Genesis also shows the concept that Sin=Death. Although this has more serious implications than the physical death which is relevant to my point, it does include a physical death. In fact, this shows the first physical death caused by sin, a bloody sacrifice made by God to cover the sins of human beings four thousand years before God took human form. God sacrificed an animal; many researchers believe it may have been an ancestor of a lamb, to literally cover the shame of human beings, foreshadowing the coming of Christ in the future. In addition to showing us that there are always earthly consequences to our sins, and this also shows us that we must rely on God for salvation and that we can never through our own works make up for our sin.
Genesis 3:6-7…21-22 “When the woman saw that the tree produced fruit that was good for food, was attractive to the eye, and was desirable for making one wise, she took some of its fruit and ate it. She also gave some of it to her husband who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them opened, and they knew they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. … The Lord God made garments from skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them. And the Lord God said, ‘Now that the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil, he must not be allowed to stretch out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.’”
In conclusion, there is no way that the Theory of Evolution, in a molecules-to-man sense can be compatible with the biblical scriptures. While some may attempt to cut away what they do and do not like from both the Bible and the Theory of Evolution, to mash them together in an attempt to fit a secular world view into their interpretation of the Bible, this is not what the Bible or even in many cases science says.
